Hello folks,

I thought I would let the Virtual Vair community know that *John Noser*,
Corvair Houston's first president, passed away last week after a courageous
battle with cancer. John was a founding member of Corvair Houston and had
recently returned to Houston (from Washington state) for treatment at the VA
hospital. I only recently met John a few months ago, but I know from our
long time members that he was a true Corvair lover and he appreciated all of
his Corvair friends. Shown below is a copy of the obituary as posted by the
Houston Chronicle.

JOHN HAROLD NOSER was born December 1, 1945 in Houston and died November 24,
2008. He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and graduated from St.
Pius High School. He served his country proudly in Vietnam. After being
honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, he graduated from the
University of Houston where he studied Environmental Design. A founding
member of Corvair Houston, which was established in 1975, John served as
president twice and as editor of the newsletter. In 2008, he received an
Honorary Lifetime Membership. John resided in Seattle, Washington for 17
years before returning to Houston early this year. He was a member of Unity
Church of Christianity. John enjoyed many hobbies, including collecting
Beatles memorabilia, photography, hiking, skiing, camping, traveling and
collecting and working on Corvair cars and trucks. He is survived by his
son, Jonathan Watson Noser of Seattle; brothers David J. Noser and wife
Patricia, Thomas R. Noser and wife Roberta, Walter Peter Noser, Jr. and wife
Sandra of Houston; sisters, Jeanne E. Streckfus of Austin and Carrie L.
Peters and husband Jerry of Houston, many nieces, nephews and great nieces
and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Peter
Noser and Lillian Watson Noser, stepmother Garnett Pickett Noser, nieces
Catherine M. Streckfus and Lillian Ann Streckfus, and nephew Matthew Stephen
Noser. Visitation and memorial service will be held Friday, November 28,
2008 at 10:00am at Earthman Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris St. Bellaire, Texas.

Sincerely,

Mark Clarke
President, Corvair Houston
