<VV> too much trans fluid causing an ominous knock?

I would try to figure out the knock before taking it all apart. Does the oil smell burned? Have you hooked up an oil pressure gauge and checked pressures cold and hot? The only reason for plastigaging is to determine you are using the correct sized parts (bearings matched to crankshaft). I always do this test and have never had incorrect parts. Now I'll be sure to do this check if you have incorrectly matched pieces. If indeed you have "spun a bearing", you have no need to plastigage at this time. I wish you well.
