When I review the questions & answers given on this thread, it gives pause
to the question of the reliability of a Corvair when contemplating long trips.

=================================================

Thread??? I read EVERY email VV processes... haven't seen one lately...

If you are talking about the POSTS in general? VV is for HELP!! We do
talk about our meets / Conventions, etc.. but very few can attend ALL events!
gg

SO we are here mainly to ask questions....and questions are asked by
someone who doesn't KNOW the answer.....even if it's because they do not have the
appropriate manual in front of them!

Now that you've read several of the replies to your queries... you can see
the 60's cars are generally reliable...and Vair's even more so than others
produced then..by design!

I can attest to the reliabity of the LM's....In 1999 I even used 5
different makes of sparkplugs..to disprove the old naysayers who stated certain
BRANDS did not run in a Vair [ engine wouldn't start after installing..but
started as soon as the OLD plugs were re-installed].

I I only had ONE NEW part on the car... and it was a fuelpump from Corvair
Underground that my friend refused to use because it was bought during the time
of "bad pumps]. It had set for over 6 years on his shelf.... 13k
miles..still pumping!

I didn't even take a spare tire with me to Lake Tahoe from San Diego and
back...went over 8,000 ft passes to get there and came down Hwy 395 in 100 deg.
heat to get back... 1,300 miles that trip...just to prove a point to a
member here who said it wouldn't make it...and I drove 70mph most of the time...
