<VV> Radio Riddle

Here’s a radio riddle.  The vehicle is a 1997 GMC 1550 truck.  Until last week, the radio played fine.  Then one day, static appeared on all stations.  Nothing had been changed but now there is constant static while the engine is running.  If the engine is off, the radio is clear.  Turning the heater fan, lights and/or wipers on or off makes no difference.  The static is slightly RPM related and worse when the vehicle is first started cold.  It is not the sharp static from a mis-firing plug or a grounded spark plug wire.  It is constant.  A new alternator made no difference.  The wires, plugs cap, etc are less than 6 months old.  Any ideas?
