Hi Bill,

POR 15 works good in that area but use a wax sealant (don't plug holes)
it will hold up better than just plain oil.

You will need a sealant - I used plumber putty - to reinstall the air
vents. 
Also, while they are out, get all the crap out of the bottom of that
pocket 
area below the Monza emblem and be sure that water can flow freely
through 
the rockers.  This is the drain path for water which enters the louvers
in 
front of the windshield.  It exits the rockers in front of the rear
wheels.

Clean everything you can get to and coat it with something to prevent 
(well - hinder) future rust.  SOME have been known to spray oil into the

interior portions of the rockers.
