if you want to rebuild your powerglide i HIGHLY suggest the video and the
book "powerglide transmissions, more than you ever wanted to know" by Bob
Ballew. the most important thing i can say is plan on lots of slimed oily parts
to carefully clean. i made any tools i needed myself. there are pictures on
the cnycc website of a lot of it. i made a tool to use with the press to get
the servos apart out of a fuel pump cover and 3 bolts brazed on to it, i used
a dollar store dent puller with a bolt brazed on the end as a puller , but
you dont even need that. other that that the corvair glide is not hard to
rebuild. just replace ALL of the seals and disks , dont skimp. get press help
with the clutch pack servos if needed.i use cardboard on my bench tops to
provide the clean surfaces needed. i go to the appliance store often to get dryer
and refrigerator boxes.
hope this helps you. the important thing is "buy the book!!" he also wrote
a good one on differentials. both are sold by corvanatics group.
regards, tim colson
