 The time it takes me to clean the scientifically honed cylinder bores thouroughly, until they all pass the "oily white rag stays white test" is considerably longer than the time I believe it takes to break-in rings using the brief burst of heavy throttle at lowish rpms method. That's before Adding in the time spent checking piston ring back clearance, side clearance, and end gap, and piston and ring cleaning.
