I use mineral spirits.
Kerosene leaves an oily residue in my opinion.
And it stinks...........
You can get odorless mineral spirits. Works fine.
I have found it cheapest at Valu home centers.
But it is common.

Our Safety Clean tanks at work have mineral spirits.
