<VV> 63 monza stalling

hi guys, i have a 63 monza 102/pg that i drive once every 2 weeks or so. it 
has been running quite well until today when it would stall while in drive and 
sitting at a stop light or stop sign. it would start up quickly and sound and 
feel good in neutral. when dropped into drive, it would stall. this car has 
been tuned less than 1000miles ago, carbs balanced. all vac lines are on and 
appear tight. pcv valve was changed at tuneup. i found that by advancing the 
timing up to 16 degrees, the stalling would cease, but i do not know if this is 
the correct fix, and i don't want to do other damage. this problem began today 
and was quite sudden. perhaps the stone filters in the carbs? suggestions/ 
remedies? thanks in advance to all, jim
