<VV> speedometer makeing lots a squealing

The best lube I've tried is a lock lubricant that contains lots of  
graphite--assuming it's the cable and not the speedometer head.  It  probably is the 
cable though and you should make plans to replace it soon, but  the graphite 
lube (from the dash end to let gavity help) should work for  awhile.  If your 
speedo cable housing is not cracked or broken (especially  at the clamp in the LF 
wheel well then you may want to twist the cable out to  inspect for broken 
pieces and relube with graphite, but usually on an old car it  is just as easy 
to carefully replace the whole cable assembly.
