Since the introduction of 10% ethanol in Maine last year, many older vehicles are experiencing problems like vapor lock, sediments accumulating in infrequently used vehicles, motors running hotter, etc..
I ordered a case of ZDDP to add to my flat tappet motors. I run 10W-30 oil. I change the oil every 1500 miles. I also add an expensive tetra-ethyl additive that I had privately tested to insure the stated amount of lead was in solution (it is!). My corvair head temps are 25-30 degrees cooler when using this additive. I never have pinging when using this additive. I also add water remover solutions to my gas to avoid that problem as much as possible.
