Why not fix all three possible areas at once and be done with it. Pull
the pan and the trans shift cable. Spray the cable end with carb
cleaner or brake cleaner until it is dry and clean up to the tunnel.
Wrap some black electrical tape around it being sure to get the tape on
the metal part and go as far as you can up to the tunnel.
Pull the screw that holds the TV rod into the trans and pull the shaft
out. Replace the tiny O-ring and reassemble in reverse order. Check
the pan for warpage and hammer the dents flat around the screw holes.
Install a new thick gasket and put big washers under the screw heads.
Better yet Clark's sells reinforcement plates that prevent the pan from
denting at the screw heads. Put a new O-ring on the cable and reinstall
it before you put the pan on to make sure the ball is into the slot on
the lever.
Don't forget to add new ATF to the trans.
