<VV> Winter / Summer Plate Operation - installation

HI everyone,

 

SUBJECT: Winter / Summer Plate Operation & installation.

 

I expect that this is probably the most basic Corvair question I could ask. so please forgive me for asking.

 

I am presently reassembling our Corvairs engine in preparation for its reinstallation into the cars body after my painter finishes his work.

 

I note that when the Winter / Summer plate is in the "Summer" position, that 'leg' on the Winter / Summer plate prevents the thermostat door from closing completely. It remains slightly open.  

 

My question is this. Is this correct or have I installed something incorrectly? I cannot see how I could have installed anything incorrectly and expect this is correct but would be interested in everyone's views.
