You didn't say what type of ignition you have, either regular points & condenser or some electronic setup.  If you have points, it would be easier to check the gap, dwell and make sure the nut connection is good where the coil wire attaches to the points & condenser inside the distributor cap.  This is much easier first step them taking out the spark plugs.

If everything is okay under the distributor cap and before you do the plugs, make sure the spark plug wires have a good grip at the cap, coil and to the top of the plugs.
