John, just because we all have old cars doesn't mean we don't keep up on 
other fronts -- Cordless LED "drop" lights have been available for at 
least a couple years, meaning probably longer than that -- most of the 
ones currently available are now into their 'second design' phase, with 
sleek housings and a 'focused' led array.

Still can't drive over them though ...   (and expect them to still look 
and work like new)

Grandkids have figured out that it is a great way to put electric lights 
in the tree house -- I sure never looked for it there last time I 
couldn't find it.

I don't think it will be too long before  functional led headlights are 
available, either.

I do like the cheap florescent screw-in bulbs in drop lights -- enough 
that I've broken several -- but they need to 'warm up' a bit to be at 
their best, vs the instant on incandescent and led.
