<VV> I thought I had heard all the Corvair stories, until tonight.

Russ,

You could probably get a pair out of an early 70s GM car and stick them in a Corvair... my Dad had a early/mid 70s GMC Sprint (El Camino) that had the swivel seats, and a buddy in high school had a 75 Monte Carlo with them too.... They'd probably be really killer in a convertible...

Later,

Lonzo

Our local car club here on the island had a super cruise-in tonight, so I
took "Stinky" up for something to do. I parked it between a custom 31 Ford
Model A, 5 window coupe with a Chevy V8 and a custom 48 Ford coupe with
another Chevy V8, this one an Lt1 (What's wrong with Ford engines). One
thing I noticed was that the gear heads, who think that these are the kind
of cars all of us in the 50's and 60's drove, didn't pay any attention to
the Corvair. Maybe I should have had a big scoop on the hood with something
chrome sticking out, A few people came over and who had one at some time
and a few also came over to tell me how Nader stopped the production of the
Corvair and one guy told me that GM had stopped making Corvairs because the
couldn't fix the oil leaks. That was a new one for me, but the best was yet
to come.

As I said the gear heads ignored the Corvair, but the women they were with
were attracted to it. While the men looked over the engines, big tires and
custom paint jobs on these hot rods, the women would walk around and look
the Corvair over. One such lady walked back and looked at the motor and
interior and she came back and asked if my car had the seats that swiveled
when you opened the door. I said I had never seen that in a Corvair and she
said that her's had them. I know some of the Chrysler products had them,
but I sure never saw them in a Corvair unless someone put them in before she
had it.

My mail lady swears she had a 4 cylinder Corvair, but that's nothing new.
But swivel seats is a new one to me.
