<VV> Director`s Comments in Communiqué -- future of CORSA

I, too, have been through the transition from driver to classic. I bought my first Corvair in 1966. It was a used '65 that was my stay-at-home wife's daily driver. In late 1968, I replace the '65 with a new, built-to-order '69 and sold the '65 to my brother. Big mistake, the '69 was a POS and she hated it. So, I drove the Corvair and she bought an Audi Fox.

In '72, I bought a '72 Fiat 124 Spyder. The '69 Corvair wasn't worth anything, so it went into my garage where it has been ever since (with 25K miles). Three years ago, we bought back the '65 from my brother who had kept it all these years. It's now in the restomod process and the cost will top out somewhere north of $30K. We'll drive it on special road trips, but it will not be a daily driver in any sense of the word.

The '69 is next on the restoration list -- strictly stock.

I only have to look within to agree with Eric.

Back in the 70s and 80s and into the early 90s I drove Corvairs as my
regular transportation.
Now I have a 90% restored 66 180 and it gets taken out for cars shows and
Sunday drives in nice weather. What's really ironic is that when I started
the restoration back in 89 I had every intention of it being my daily
driver....Things change..

Before I get flamed by those of you whose daily drive is a Corvair - more
power to you - way to go but I don't think it is the reality for many of us
and will be less so in the future.

Regards,
Bob
