<VV> Who will do it, now: pdf Communique database

All, Here is my thoughts on the Commscan project. The tech guide is a
compilation of Communique articles designed for a specific purpose. To help
promote the repair and maintenance of corvairs. It is an invaluable resource
for any Corvair owner. And if you haven't seen the new versions of vol. 1 &
2, you will be pleasantly surprised at how much better they look, and how
much easier they are to use. Thank-you to all that had a hand in this
project and the forthcoming Tech. Guide 3.

The Commscan project is a totally different animal. It is based mostly on
the principle I spoke of the other day. Nostalgia. I think we all have
picked up and bought a Communique or two, a Windmill, or a Corsa Quarterly,
at a swap meet or flea market, and took it home and spent more than a few
minutes paging through them and seeing what went on in the past. I don't
look at just articles. I look at who was President and BoD offices. Who was
the editor and executive secretary. I peruse the used car and parts ads and
the ads and listings for events. I look at it all for nostalgia. It's great
relaxed reading and entertainment. But I have limited access to the few I
have and I would like exposure to more. And I believe you would like to
experience more too. There are some that have every issue that was produced
and are willing to loan them to the Commscan volunteers for electronic
reproduction. I say thank-you to all of them. They will be a big help in
this project moving forward.

All this being said, I am going to recommend that the issues be scanned from
cover to cover to allow the reader to get the whole picture and feel of what
was going on at the time.
This will not be easy or quick. We will all need a little patience, but the
end result will be worth it.

When finished I believe the end result should be put on the CORSA website
and limited to CORSA members only. EXCEPT for some choice tidbits that
should be available for everyone to see. Teasers if you will. Hopefully
these teasers will instill some nostalgia, or just plain curiosity in the
readers, so they feel the need to join CORSA to get access to the rest. As
far as the sale of CDs or DVDs, that will have to be determined by the board
when the project is finished.

Thanks for all the input guys

Jamie Reinhart
CORSA Central Director
