<VV> LM Desert Air Cleaner

We are parting out a late coupe that has the Desert Air Cleaner attachment on the firewall (air intake). It's a large sheetmetal piece with a huge rubber oval-shaped boot on it. This piece screws to the air intake area in front of the engine. I don't have the other parts that made up the complete system but this may be a good start at getting this rarely seen option.   Jeff Williams - California Corvairs

Subject: <VV> What Is That

Joel,

To follow up on the "desert air" package on the 4dr Monza in Kansas City, I
don't know of any package for the FC that includes the dedicated, filtered
ducting that was available on the LMs.  The oil bath filter, hose and
special inlet for the air cleaners is the only option I have read about or
seen.  FCs may not have needed it because of the location of  the dual intakes
on the sides of the vehicles.

Talk about (probable) missed opportunities.  I would really like to  buy
the KC car.  The ducted intake for the cooling air would be something  to
have.  Obviously not available for AC cars in '65.
