Hi Fellow Corvairians!

Ray brought up an interesting point on the name "CORSA". I am a charter
member, (one of about ten left), so I dug out my original "Preliminary
Newsletter #1" from September, 1969 and re-read it. The newsletter was
published by our founder, Richard Langworth, and in this very first
newsletter the proposed name "CORSA" was mentioned. He thought it should
stand for "Corvair Owners Restoration Society of America". He also
mentioned the shorter "CORvair Society of America" and invited others to
make suggestions.

The next newsletter, "Preliminary Newsletter #2" published in April, 1970,
once again listed both proposed names and three proposed emblems were
roughly hand drawn on the first page, one of which was very close to our
current emblem (one was a 1960 front emblem - go Cavemen!). There were also
two ads for brand new 69 Corvairs, still on the dealer's lot!

The next newsletter, "Preliminary Newsletter #3", published in July, 1970,
established our current name and emblem. Everyone seemed quite happy with
the name and it has existed ever since.

I personally have no problems with the name or emblem, even though "500",
"700", "Lakewood", "Spyder" and truck owners aren't specifically included in
the emblem. I just though you all might be interested in a little history.
