That comes under the heading of "broadcast advertizing" :

Tell everyone that you have everything, and maybe someone will buy 
something, and those who don't wouldn't buy anything anyway, so nothing 
lost.

Unfortunately, we're more aware than most, so we notice.

Most don't (and it's too much work to fix it, under the "80-20 Rule")
