<VV> recruiting new members?.

Not to be negative about getting young people interested in Corvairs, we
should try to focus on people in the 35-55 age range, they may have the
interest and money to have a hobby car so that's the age range to cultivate.
The chance of getting people under the age of 25 is going to be almost
impossible, young kids want a turnkey car that never needs attention,
probably a tuner with a 1000 watt stereo. The next age range is probably
raising a family or paying off college and a hobby car probably isn't
possible so it makes sense to go after the demo of people most likely to be
interested in the hobby.

Another idea is for every CORSA member that has a kid or grandkid, buy them
a CORSA membership, that will get the numbers doubled if I do the math
right, maybe more for those with more than one kid. <gg>

Not trying to beat the poor dead horse any more than it already has been,
just my take on it, right or wrong.

Joe

i wonder how many auto shop classes and B.O.C.E.S. car training facilities
would welcome a guest speaker on corvairs in breif?
when the local shop in syracuse was working on my lakewood (saving it from
the crusher!) i was invited to talk a little about corvairs , and i left a
disk
there i prepared with lots of pictures and info. i heard later that
several guys loved it. so you might check at high school shop classes or
other
transportation shop classes in your area. most have a puter set up to use
, so a
disk of misc corvair pictures and old sales brochures scanned , along with
a
couple of those neat u tube videos might just get someone fired up on
corvairs.
hey ya never know??
maybe corsa or somebody ought to put together a suggested program on a cd?
regards, tim colson
