Hi Bill,

Craig already responded but I'll add my 2 cents.  

If you are speaking of the gear on the pinion shaft, then yes, it is more
difficult to replace but not impossible.  the problem is holding it while
pressing it off.  I used some hardwood blocks clamped onto the gear to give
me something to press against while pushing the pinion shaft out.  As far as
I know, all the gears on the pinion shaft are the same.

If your talking about the plastic gear that the cable connects to, then it's
no problem to swap it out.  Just remove the 1 bolt retainer and pull the
speedo drive out of the diff.  The gear is just held on with a  clip.  Pick
the gear that gives you the proper ratio.  You can calculate that but don't
ask me how, it's been years!
