Bill,
     The secret is to wear CLIP-ON ties that "appear" to be normal, but just clip on the collar.  If this kind of tie gets caught in anything rotational, it simply pulls loose of your neck and keeps you from getting strangled.  I used to wear them to work mainly because it was much quicker to put them on and they always had a "perfect" knot.

Does this TIE into the earlier thread about GM employees back in the day
