The easy answer is that the Corvair Model years  are 1960-1969.    Chevy 
didn't build a 1959 Corvair (model year, were prototypes)

Yes, manufacturing and selling started in 1959 but hte model year was still 
1960.  Lots to celebrate over the next year and actaully for the next 10 
years.  Intro of the Monza,  the Spyder,  the wagons and trucks,  the Corsa 
.
