?A FAM may be all that's needed, but a SAM has more possibilities. 

For machining castings like this, the speed and accuracy are amazing, not to mention the flexibility. This is pretty much what all machining is going to, called flexible tooling. No jigs, just programming!

The speed is the key to low cost.

No, but I've seen videos of a 5-axis mill carving an engine block out of a
