<VV> PAINTING A CORVAIR DASH

Hi everyone,

I wondered, and hoping that someone reading this may be able to help me?

I am currently restoring a 1965 Corvair Monza convertible here in Australia.

I am restoring the interior of this car with a red interior (it was originally white). The dash panel was originally black and I will of course have to repaint it the correct shade of red colour.

Here's my problem. Australian paint suppliers can not match colours using USA paint codes so quoting USA paint numbers or codes is next to useless.

To assist me in matching the right colour I wondered if I could purchase from one of you, say a second hand ash tray door or similar small part that has been removed from the dash panel of a 1965 Corvair with a red interior and of course still retains some of the original colour?

The part need not be in good condition as it is only required for colour matching. I am also happy to return this part at my expense once I have used it to establish the correct colour (shade of red)

The centre ash tray seems to me to be the best part as it should be painted the correct dash panel red for that year.

Also I wondered if anyone could tell me if all metal or hard surface interior parts are painted the same shade of red or if for example the dash panel is a darker shade of red than the doors above the door trim?

Any help with this would greatly appreciated as I have no other way of determining the correct red for our Corvairs dash panel and or door tops.

Regards
