<VV> Diane Galli

I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting with Diane and Bob Galli privately at their home during the recent Vair Fest. They were both active in producing the event, not letting physical problems stop their participation.
We had a frank discussion about the future of CORSA and the possibilities of preserving a healthy organization for our children and grandchildren.
With Diane and Bob it was never about what's in it for me, it was always what can we do for others who share our love of Corvairs.
I salute Diane, her spirit will live with us always.
And to Bob and the family I say, you were blessed with the presence of a great lady who remains in all our hearts forever.
Jack Pinard

Another Shameless attempt to move some "extra" Corvair
parts to the group: I just purchased a large amount of
mostly junk Corvair parts. However, I did get several 4
speed transmissions. I counted nine (9) '62-63 units and
five (5) '64-65 units. There are a couple of 3 speed
trannies in there as well. I also got way too many diff's
in the package. Mostly 3.27 and 3.55 and no posi units at
all. Price is $25 a piece. Pick them up in the Detroit
area as I can't ship due to weight. Thanks!! - Pete K in

Linda and I were good friends of Bob and Diane for many years.
We knew Diane was headed downhill but it's still one of those bits of
news you really hate to hear. We made certain to stop by their place
last year on the way back from Ventura and are so glad we did.

We'd love to see Bob at the Memorial Sat but it's probably not going to
be possible (800+ miles south and we're behind as usual) . But those of
you from the Corvair community who can be there should really try to
show up in force. Lon

Are there supposed to be guide plates on the rear wheels/ When I
disassembled the rear brakes, neither had them.

What are guide plates? The little oval shaped steel stamping that fits over
the stud at 12 o'clock? Well then, yes. I think its purpose is to keep the
pullback springs away from being pinched by the ends of the brake shoes.
Or are we talking something else?

Are you talking about the contact surfaces (3 for each shoe) - oval flat
spots on the backing plate?... Then - yes. I THIN coat of brake lube is
recommended - avoid getting it on the surface of the shoes.

Never seen them on rear wheels, just on the fronts.
