ANYTHING on a fifty year old car could be considered to be past it's
normal life span, and thus, prone to failure -- the questions are, if it
fails, am I still safe and are others still safe -- if it fails, will
the subsequent damage cost more to repair than replacing/repairing the
part -- or, if it fails, does that simply mean it has fully met it's
life expectancy and now just needs to be replaced and such replacement
is the only inconvenience it will cause. All said with the concept that
many Corvair owners are a frugal sort -- if money is no object, of
course, replace it!
Wiper blades come to mind -- sort of silly to buy new ones every week ,
should replace them yearly though, but don't wait until the blade holder
is grooving the windshield.
