Hi all...Checking over my car today, I noticed that the thermostat doors at the back of the car are always open...even when the engine is off and it's cold outside.

Sadly noting that I would have to remove the rear gille pan to investigate further, I found the swivel and the mechanism and figgered out how it all works.

I can push the thermostat rod INWARD, this is, toward the front of the car, which means that the bellows are exended in the fully "warmed up" position? However, I cannot pull the rod any more OUTWARD toward the rear of the car, the bellows appear to be pushing out (rearward) to the limit of their outward (open) travel.

Shouldn't I be able to pull the thermostat rod OUTWARD (toward the rear of the car), when it's cold?

I did all this while the engine and outside temperature was COLD.

Do you guys think my thermostats need to be replaced?

Thanks (as always) for your advice...Bill Hershkowitz 69 Monza Coupe 110 PG
