One thing I "like to do" watching old car chase scenes is to count the number of hubcap launches. The?Charger chasing McQueen must have had a "magazine" of hubcaps based on the number it launched....

You want Corvair content? My Corvair doesn't have hubcaps in an effort to protect innocent bystanders.

Too many years ago to remember, I ran across some variant of an "Old Car
Trader." The feature article was devoted to the Mustang in the movie. I
cannot remember the exact number, but seem to recall that 6 were used in the
filming of the movie. All had the 428 Cobrajet, with 4 speed, (obviously)

It was rumored that Steve McQueen made off with one of them at the close of
filming but they could not account for the remainder of them. Another
article I read years later claimed the 428 was one of the most under-rated
and unappreciated engines of that generation. Folks didn't think the one
cubic inch was very significant when compared to the 427.

Anyway, take it for what it's worth. Oh, and one final thing, I think the
topic of "Bullit" has come up before and someone else noted that the Mustang
and the Charger seem to pass the same VW Beetle in nearly every scene. As
noted, that must be one fast VW. ;-)
