<VV> coupe use, was: body styles

There was a really nice article in Hemmings Classic Cars a while back that
really defined "club coupe". In it, the early model Corvair 2door is
identified as a good example of a club coupe.

I've not spent much time in the back seat of an early model, but have had
enough late models, both 2 and 4 doors, to know that there's a huge
difference in the way one sits in them. For whatever reason, the 4door just
seems to sit more "normal", whereas the 2door is more on the order of what
apparently fits the "club coupe" definition.

Regardless, IMHO the 2door is worthless. Why anyone would "save" them
instead of the 4doors is beyond me. The best thing you can do with them is
to keep the rear seat folded down and consider it a 2-passenger "business"
coupe. Certainly, you don't have as easy an access to the rear area as you
do a 4door, even if you'd want to sit someone there. Then again, it IS well
suited for stuffing in the munchkins and keeping them out of the way. LOL

And IMHO, the best thing you can do for a LM 2door, styling-wise, is to put
a Fitch ventop on it. John Fitch was a man of impecable style, and he knew
what he was doing. It balances out the car and actually makes it look good.
A friend of mine is just now completing a LM 2door with a Fitch ventop and
Yenko decklid, and sport mirrors. The car is really looks great. (I have
pics of it available.)
