<VV> Nasty knocking noise- Aw Crap!

Eeek- I believe I may have effed-up my en gine.  It's a '65 110.... 



I took the car out to a local cruise-in last week despite knowing that I had 

a leaky/loose connection at the driv er-side exhaust log. It was pretty loud. 



Got under and re-connected the exhaust pipe yesterday and things quieted down 

significantly. 



In fac t it got quiet enough that I can now hear a pretty nasty tapping/knocking 

sound from the drivers side of the engine somewhere. Sounds kinda  like a stuck 

lifter, but louder. Can be heard better from up-top than underneath. 



I've been told that running a car with an 'open' exhaust like that can 'burn' the exhaust 

valves. What are the symptoms of a burned exhaust valve? What is the fix? 



Darn! Didn't want to spend a bunch of $$$ on this thing this summer- wanted to DRIVE her!
