i have tried to post things i have done , not theoris.
i have been putting magnets removed from bad hard drives in differentials  
(on the left side by the cast tray) , in powerglides , and on oil pump 
screens  for at least 10 years or more since i discovered how strong and handy 
they are.  i doubt it does much good (but dont know or care ) if they would 
help on the  outside of a fuel line or oil filter. i suppose they would hold a 
small amount  if i tried it.  but i have taken oil pans back off after many 
miles for one  reason or another finding fine wear filings etc on the 
magnets. the magnets  might move i suppose if oil temps got way up there, but 
engine would also suffer  a failure if it really got that hot.
i have proof of that in my hard luck trophy parts box.
