For reference, sometimes - after 40 years - the button is a bit "reluctant" 
 - If you are snaking your arm up under the dash to push it down at a  
strange angle, scotch tape a dime on the underside of your finger, this limits  
the pain on your finger, and makes the job easier. When you get it out, you 
will  see the trick.
