Floyd Clymer book -- "Follow the factory settings (20 front 26 rear) 
until you find another combination that suits you better."  psi assumed, 
but not stated -- a 30/30 example is given for a particluar car, driver, 
& tire combination

1957 Porsche 356A Driver's Manual -- has a chart, depending on tire 
size, 5.60-16 or 5.90-16, and country or high speed driving -- range of 
(17 front, 21.5 rear) to (21.5 front, 25.5 rear), cold, psi  (the half 
pounds are becuase the pressures are originally in tenths of atmospheres 
(at0).

30/36 is not uncommon on some of today's tires, just depends ...
