One year only is an interesting question.

You mentioned Royal Purple, which is very close to '66 Plum Mist Metallic.

Regards,
Joel

Hi All!

There were at least three "one year only" late model colors that I know of,
Evening Orchid in '65, Aztec Bronze in '66 and Royal Plum in '67. I think
all three were great looking colors! By the way, only one color was offered
with the same name all ten years of the Corvair's production, Tuxedo Black.
Ermine White almost made it all ten years but, for some reason, they changed
the name to Dover White in '69.

There were several other colors that were offered for only one year during
the late model's run, but usually it was just a name change, the letter code
would stay the same. Sometimes the paint color was slightly changed as well
(Crocus Yellow in 65, Lemonwood Yellow in 66 and Butternut Yellow 67-69) all
shared the same "Y" paint code but had three different paint formulas. Who
knows why they changed like this?
