IIRC, The lowers are also different due to the camber adjusting eccentric
bolts on late models. I think just the addition of pieces that wedge the
eccentric to make the arm move when adjusting, but I am not under a late at
the moment and will accept corrections.

Bryan Blackwell posted that 1965-69 suspensions are wider due to longer
control arms.  Balderdash!
The GM parts book says all cars from 1960-69 use the same part number
for the upper control arm.
The lowers are different due to sway bar mounts but they are the same
length also.
The difference in widths is from the wider brakes and drums on a 1965
and later.
