If that is #1 throw on the short end of the break, it looks almost identical to 
what happened to my first Corvair many years back (except it did not break 
across a balance hole). Mine was broken for a couple weeks before I got around 
to fixing it. On the drag strip the short end of the crank would tip up enough 
to throw the belt when I dropped the clutch, giving me a few extra HP for the 
run.
