In the days that many Vairs were daily drivers, I sold several  "dummy" 
coil wires with sets. Those were 1/4" O.D. Tubing with the correct boots  in 
place. It would be hard to tell the difference from a black coil wire. It  
keeps the motor from running - with a stock ignition. A hot enough coil might  
just fire that sucker through guided air space to the cap. 
 
Like many cars from the 60's - A Corvair with all stock stuff is quite easy 
 to steal.
