Not exactly... there's evidence that Porsche may have taken a close 
look at the boxer-6 that GM put in that 356, which fit nicely and ran 
well and made Porsche sit up and realize that they had no 6 cylinder 
engine of their own... but a few years later they did.

One could in fact suggest that the Corvair was partially responsible 
for the 911.
