Wait a minute; he said reputable shop, not reputable CORVAIR shop. Not many around. I dare say a reputable shop in this day and age hasn't seen a corvair in a LONG time. And the baffles wern't on the engine to begin with. How would they have known...

I agree with Michael. No reputable Corvair shop would leave the lower cylinder baffles off. This must be one of those "professional" shops that probably should not be working on Corvairs.
