Tatra WAS first; after  WWII, Volkswagen paid Tatra over a million  
Deutschmarks for Dr. Porsche's copying the Tatra to produce the VW design.

Actually I think it  was Porsche who copied the Chevrolet Corvair. Ask
yourself, who was the  first with a four door?
