<VV> Disassembly continued

Got the diff & trans out and the jugs removed tonight. I added a few new
pictures starting here:

It appears the transmission crossmember has been modified, is this something
anyone has seen before? The trans bolts up fine and there is no missing
bolts for it. I am curious, possibly trans changed from 3 to 4 speed or
maybe from auto to clutch? Any ideas??
