Ray- I went and looked at my late case and found the reinforcement you were talking about-oops! The junkyard dog case does not
have those ribs, but the passenger side, was the one that was the early style case. Interestingly enough, my other late YR case does not
have the reinforcing ribs either. That particular case is the one that has caused me to be picky about crankcases, as it was the one
that was supposedly the original block for the car, which is a 63 spyder that I bought from the original owner with 72000 miles on it.
After running that engine for years, I took it apart for rebuilding, and discovered the half-flange bearings, and standard
and +.001 bearings all in the same case, and then discovering that the case had the cast in reliefs for a long stroke crank, but had
a short stroke crank in it, and the block halves didnt appear to "line up" correctly with one another, causing me to think they were
somehow miss-matched. To make a long story short, I had some big problems with that case after the re-build, and started over again with a good
case, which is what is in my car now, and has been since 2008.
