Timothy,
It's a machinist's term... if the crankshaft is smaller, the replacement bearing will need to be larger, hence the term "oversized'... bigger than the standard bearing.

Were crankshaft bearings ever available as "oversized"? Were crankshafts ever 
ade by GM with jurnals that were too big requiring bearings that would not be 
tandard sized? Or do we all mean to be saying undersized?
