I tend to agree with Frank.
It may be the shortest distance, but was't the original installation with the post fartest away from the engine? The put the post under the fender. Could cause some sparks if you didn't undo the negitive cable first.

I have a question about the 51R. Doesn't that put the battery terminals in

wrong place? Shouldn't the posts be outboard, not inboard (closer to the
engine)? Just wondering.
