A question. A leaky cylinder? Since I only have LM's, I don't have
experience with EM's. I just removed a power top from a 69, and I didn't see
any cylinders. The motor was in the middle of the tray behind the seat, and
it had two cables (like speedo cables) that came out each side of the motor
and went into a fitting on the top frame. No cylinders.

i have had both on a 64 spyder. the power top is nice to talk about , but

in fact i am sure it shortens the life of a top , unless you just do it in
many steps, getting out and carefully watching the folds as it lowers
(just
bumping the button), just as you do when it is a manual.
so i found it just as easy to put it down manually. oh i forgot , a power
top has a bonus: it can pee from a leaky cylinder without warning , and
make
a permanent mess of the corner of your back seat.
live , from the voice of has been there!
so if you do go that route , you should get the cylinders rebuilt with
fresh seals?. mine looked just fine , but blew in a short time.
