Do NOT use ordinary chassis/wheel bearing grease. it is way too thick, and  
channels. Plus it stiffens the steering in cold weather. 
 
Use one of the following: CV U-joint grease or as suggested a 50-50 mix of  
80W-90 gear oil and chassis grease.
