<VV> Dangers of Re: Speed on Public Highways

There are other dangers associated with being caught and ticketed for
excessive speeding, at least in this area (NJ) of the country. Many years ago
when I was speeding trying to get to work on time, I was ticketed for going
85 mph on a 55 mph limit 6 lane divided highway. I found out that this
could give me 6 points on my NJ driver's license which was the limit. Any
further infraction, even a minor one, would lead to a SIX MONTH suspension of
my license meaning my wife would have to drive me 84 miles (roundtrip) to
work every morning and REPEAT the trip at the end of the workday!!! For
$500 I hired an experienced court attorney to get me a reduced sentence
(down to only 2 points) so I was no longer in danger of the suspension.
Getting caught driving on a suspended license can result in JAIL time, so
expenditure of money is the LEAST of your worries.
Since I'm retired now, I usually drive below the speed limit, or, at the
very least, I'm NOT the fastest driver in the immediate vicinity. And, with
gas prices approaching $3.50 a gallon, that gives me better gas mileage,
over 25 highway mpg on my "DustBuster" Pontiac MiniVan.

NO WORRIES FOR ME , .........

I went to work for the state of Maryland, drove a state car
for 20 yrs. at 5mph under the speed limit. IF that doesn't murder
any aggressive driving you have in you , ... nothing will [get 2
tickets, you are transfered to another job inside].

Hi folks,

Related to this - yesterday I took the Miata to an autocross (sorry, no a
Corvair) and noted one of the competitors taping over his license plate.
"Why?", I asked.

"Because people will come and take pictures at an event and sell them to
insurance companies, who then deny a claim based on your use of the car."

He went on to tell me there had been someone taking photos at an event
that was somewhat suspicious - not a participant, not there with a competitor,
no business card, not even willing to give a name. He later asked a
friend who is an adjuster and got confirmation that at least one company buys
photos.
